I AM SO EXCITED!!! RT @PointAbout announces Bill Lee (@WestCoastBill) to join our Advisory Board to continue @AppMakr's explosive growth

PointAbout Adds Tech Entrepreneur Bill Lee to Advisory Board

Lee to Fuel Continued Growth of AppMakr Mobile App Platform

Washington, DC — PointAbout, Inc. announced today that long-time Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur Bill Lee will be joining its Advisory Board amidst the continued explosive growth of its AppMakr self-service mobile app development platform.

Launched just six months ago, PointAbout’s AppMakr platform has been used by brands like Newsweek, PGA TOUR, National Geographic, Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki and thousands of others to build and publish iPhone apps to the iTunes App Store.  Apps made using the AppMakr platform have been downloaded over 1.5 million times since January.

Lee will bring his deep experience in online messaging platforms and collaboration platforms to both the AppMakr platform as well as PointAbout’s expanding enterprise consulting and services practice, which includes clients like Disney, Cars.com, and The Washington Post.

Speaking about the timing of the opportunity, Lee explained, “PointAbout is uniquely positioned to be at the top of the mobile space with its stellar founding team and exploding AppMakr platform.  The AppMakr platform is getting incredible traction today and is the foundation of mobile user experiences from Maclife, Harvard Business Review, INC magazine’s conference, US Congress and many other leading brands from the entire spectrum of industries.   My background in scaling technology companies will be leveraged to guide PointAbout in the current phase of its growth, especially since the AppMakr platform is transforming the way both individuals and the enterprise leverage mobile.  Apps made using AppMakr are now being opened over 67,000 times per day — that number is doubling every 45 days, and it’s just getting started.”

Previously, Lee was CEO and co-founder of Remarq, a Benchmark Capital-backed collaboration company. At Remarq, Bill the development of a complete end-to-end messaging and collaboration platform. Before its acquisition by Critical Path in March 2000 for $265 million, the company developed high-volume messaging platforms for sites such as eBay, Sun, Novell, and Amazon.

Currently, Lee is an angel investor and some of his recent investments include Tesla Motors, Posterous, TweetDeck, Zelfy, Social Concepts, PlayHaven, and Mighty Meeting.  He is also on the advisory board of i/o ventures — a San Francisco early stage startup program that focuses heavily on mentorship.

Lee graduated Beta Gamma Sigma from UC Berkeley with a B.S. in accounting/finance and received a JD/MBA from UCLA. Lee can be contacted via Twitter (@westcoastbill) and maintains a blog at http://www.backtoreality.com.
